Entry Level Job Interview Question: How to Answer “Tell Me About Yourself” in a Job Interview
In a job interview, this question is really meant to get you to start talking. A hiring manager or recruiter can’t simply say “please just talk as I try to discretely read your resume in front of you.”
Since you know that you will be asked this question, it’s your perfect opportunity to prepare what you’d like the interviewer to remember about you.
What is it about your background, experience or skills that makes you a great fit for the job?
More importantly, what do you want them to remember as the best example of what you’ve accomplished, at the end of the interview.
The key is for you to prepare something specific; a specific example that demonstrates your skills. This isn’t the place for you to simply list a lot of adjectives that you think sound very good, it’s the place for you to give them specific examples which demonstrate your abilities.
